Triple H has destroyed one WWE division for good

WWE is now gearing up for WrestleMania 42, with the world title picture mostly clear. However, the same cannot be said for all the divisions in the promotion.

While the Triple H-led creative regime has done a remarkable job with the women’s tag team division, the same cannot be said for the men’s counterparts across both brands. Over the last few years, the Chief Content Officer of WWE has largely ignored the men’s tag team division, and it has never been clearer than right now.

WWE SmackDown’s tag team division has become non-existent

This past week on the blue-branded show, the teams were in a backstage segment with R-Truth trying to figure out what was inside the mystery box before Danhausen’s debut.

The Motor City Machine Guns and Los Garza have barely featured on television over the last few months despite having a great run in the summer of 2025. The departure of Tommaso Ciampa disbanded DIY, and the injury to Elton Prince has put Pretty Deadly on the shelf for the time being, which has been a major blow.

In addition, The Street Profits have been missing from television since October 2025 despite not being injured, which is another big reason why the division has suffered.

The tag team titles have been treated like an afterthought on both brands

This week on RAW, The Usos didn’t bother bringing their World Tag Team Championship to the ring. In addition, there are barely any teams remaining on the red-branded show to challenge for the titles, further depleting their importance.

On SmackDown, the WWE Tag Titles are now with the MFTs after a meaningless title reign for the Wyatt Sicks. The championship is second fiddle to the lantern in their feud, and things haven’t improved despite the title changing hands.

The tag teams on SmackDown are not booked prominently despite a three-hour runtime

When SmackDown moved to three hours earlier this year, fans expected to see more of the tag team division. However, they remain nowhere to be found.

Taking the WWE Tag Titles off of the MFTs and giving them to the Machine Guns, Fraxiom, or the Street Profits would have been a much better alternative, considering how personal the feud between Solo Sikoa and Uncle Howdy has become following the involvement of the lantern.

RAW, on the other hand, could use more involvement from teams such as the War Raiders, Alpha Academy, or even the Creed Brothers. However, they have mostly been left on the back burner, and the division has suffered immensely as a result.
