Ronald Araujo makes bold claim about Barcelona’s chances in LaLiga and UCL after Copa del Rey exit


Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has made a bold claim regarding the Blaugrana’s chances in LaLiga and UEFA Champions League. The Catalan giants suffered an aggregate 4-3 defeat over two legs against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey.

Hansi Flick’s side were beaten 4-0 in the first leg and did well to almost overturn it in the second leg. Ronald Araujo was thorughly impressed with his side’s fighting spirit after their 3-0 win against Atletico Madrid in the second leg.

The Uruguay international claimed that Barcelona could go all way in LaLiga and Champions League. He said, via Yssscores:

“No blame can be directed at the team, we gave everything. The first leg made things difficult for us. The team presented itself excellently, we won the match but we just needed a little more. The coach said he is proud of the team. I believe we delivered an outstanding performance and were just a bit short.”

He added:

“The first leg affected us, but this desire and spirit are what we need to maintain. I thank our fans because they were a very important support. By playing this way, we can win the two remaining championships we have this season.”

Barcelona will take on Newcastle United in the Round of 16 of the Champions League. They are also at the top of the table in LaLiga with a four-point cushion over arch rivals Real Madrid.


Barcelona make final call on Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford

Barcelona have reportedly made their final decision on signing Marcus Rashford on a permanent basis. Rashford is currently on a season loan at Camp Nou after falling out of favour at Manchester United.

As per Mundo Deportivo (via GOAL), Hansi Flick’s side have decided in favour of signing the England international permanently. Barca have the option to sign Rashford permanently for €30 million as part of the loan agreement.

Barcelona have reportedly decided to pay Manchester United three instalments of €10 million each over three seasons. It needs to be seen whether Rashford is open to moving to Camp Nou permanently, considering his contract demands.

Rashford has managed to rediscover his form during his loan stint at the Catalan club. He has scored ten goals and provided 13 assists in 36 appearances across competitions this season.
