Raptors’ Jamison Battle exits vs. Hornets with left ankle sprain

The Toronto Raptors are starting to feel the weight of injuries this season.

Raptors forward Jamison Battle exited Friday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets after suffering a left ankle sprain, the team announced early in the fourth quarter.

The injury occurred in the opening minute of the final frame. Battle contested a three-pointer from Brandon Miller but landed awkwardly on the Hornets forward’s foot.

Battle played 14 minutes off the bench in the contest, tallying three points and three rebounds.

The sophomore small forward has been a decent depth contributor, averaging 4.0 points and 1.3 rebounds while shooting 66.7 per cent from the field and 57.1 per cent from three.

He had a good night against the Lakers on Thrusday, scoring 10 points with three rebounds and one assist.

The Raptors were already being stress-tested by injuries, as wings RJ Barrett (knee) and Ochai Agbaji (personal) were ruled out against Charlotte. Heading into Friday, they had lost three of their last four games.
