A 12-year-old boy died in a house fire in Portage la Prairie early Sunday morning, Manitoba RCMP say.
RCMP were called around 4:40 a.m. about a fire at a home with multiple people inside, police said in a news release Monday morning.
The house, on Eight Street N.W. between Lorne Avenue W. and Fisher Avenue W., was engulfed in flames when they arrived.
Two adults and five children escaped the home with relatively minor injuries, but they told police a boy was still inside the house.
His body was later found inside.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, RCMP said.
