“I was told during the summer by a source very close to the Eagles front office that people were pointing to A.J. Brown. And some of it’s on Jalen Hurts,” Cowherd said. “He is not well-liked in the locker room. He’s not a galvanizer. He’s not one of the guys. … Hurts is a different cat.

Jalen Hurts helped the Eagles to victory in Super Bowl LIX. However, last season, they failed to defend their championship. Despite qualifying for the playoffs, they lost to the 49ers in a wild-card showdown.
The Eagles were ranked the 24th-best team in offense, averaging 311.2 yards and 46 touchdowns. This was a huge drop from the 2024 season, when they were ranked No.8. Jalen Hurts recorded 3,224 yards and 25 TDs passing.
On the other hand, A.J. Brown had 1,003 yards on 78 receptions and seven touchdowns. In 2024, he had agreed to a three-year extension with the team worth $96 million. On Tuesday, coach Nick Sirianni talked about the wide receiver, but did not guarantee his return in 2026.
“I can’t guarantee how anythings going to play out into the next season,” Sirianni said as per 94 WIP’s Eliot Shorr-Parks. “Do I want him here? Yes. So, you know, hopefully that works.”

Eagles insider shares his thoughts on Jalen Hurts receiving a potential extension
On Tuesday’s episode of “WIP Morning Show,” Eagles insider Elliot Shorr Parks was asked if Jalen Hurts deserved a contract extension this offseason.
He responded positively and also stated that the quarterback should seek a trade if the team fails to meet his demands.
“I think that I would double down on Jalen before I would trade him,” Parks said. “And I really think that’s what it is, right? I think if Jalen and his camp go to the Eagles and say they want a new contract, and the Eagles say no, I think Jalen should ask for a trade.
“If I’m Jalen, I’m not sitting around another year when Nick’s got paid, other people have gotten paid. I’ve won a Super Bowl for you, and you’re still not paying me. There’s plenty of teams that would pay Jalen Hurts.”
Hurts has been with the Eagles since they drafted him with the 53rd pick in 2020. In 2023, he signed a five-year extension worth $255 million. The quarterback has recorded a total of 17,891 yards and 110 TDs passing in six years.
