What Exactly Triggered Kevin Durant’s Fiery Verbal Spat Toward Tyler Herro? Breaking Down the Heat-Rockets Clash
Things got heated between Kevin Durant and Tyler Herro during the Houston Rockets vs. Miami Heat matchup Saturday night. Durant was upset during his confrontation with Herro, with both players receiving technical fouls. But what triggered the exchange?
Midway through the first quarter, Durant was frustrated after losing the ball following a strong defensive effort by the Heat. He then began chirping at Herro, who can be heard saying something to the Rockets superstar.
Thanks for the submission!
“Why are you coming after me?” Herro said.

“Cause you can’t guard,” Durant responded.
Tyler Herro seemingly took offense to the trash talk and called Durant a “b*tch.” However, there was no clear audible indicating whether Herro brought up the recent burner account controversy surrounding Durant, as claimed by @BrickCenter.
Since the popular page is known for trolling players, it’s safe to say Herro and Durant were just talking trash. Things got heated, but both had to stay composed after being called for one technical foul each.
Kevin Durant comments on confrontation with Tyler Herro
Speaking to reporters after the game, Kevin Durant was asked about what happened between him and Tyler Herro. He explained that it was nothing serious and appreciated Herro’s competitiveness.
“I just think we both needed a little joking energy to start the game,” Durant said. “I mean, you seen it; we laughed and joked right after that. I got respect for Tyler, he has respect for me.
“I appreciate his competitiveness and vice versa. We can move on from there. It was nothing too serious.”
Durant added that the only upsetting part of the exchange was receiving technical fouls, even though things didn’t get physical. Tyler Herro also told the media that nothing personal was said and it was just part of the competition.
Heat takes down Rockets
Despite getting 32 points, five rebounds, eight assists and two blocks from Kevin Durant, the Rockets still failed to beat the Heat. Houston had a rough fourth quarter, allowing Miami to earn its 32nd win of the season.
Bam Adebayo led the way for Miami with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Pelle Larsson added 20 points, four rebounds and four assists, while Herro contributed 18 points, two rebounds and three assists.
It was the first meeting of the season between the two teams. The Heat are scheduled to visit the Rockets at Toyota Center on March 21.
