Cambridgeshire woman wins £1 million after buying scratchcard on a whim

She said: “My flabber has been totally gasted!”

A cat lover from Cambridgeshire has won £1 million after playing a Win £10, £100 or £1 million scratchcard from The National Lottery. The Peterborough woman, who has not been named, played the lucky card on Monday, January 19.

Speaking on her win, she said: “I feel elated and shocked… my flabber has been totally gasted! The scratchcard was an impulse purchase, and now I am going to use my winnings to buy my house.”

Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said: “Our lucky cat lover’s impulse purchase really paid off! We wish her all the best in buying her house, and in buying herself and her four-legged friends plenty of treats with her newfound fortune.”

Players can buy and check their tickets online or by downloading the National Lottery app. They can also buy and check tickets in retail stores.

Playing online via the app or website means that your ticket is checked, and you get an email notification if you win a prize. You can also scan your retail tickets on the National Lottery app to check if you’re a winner.
