Oliver Glasner makes Michael Carrick feelings clear ahead of Man United decision

Oliver Glasner is one of the managers who have been linked with this summer’s managerial vacancy at Manchester United

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has praised Michael Carrick for the job he is doing at Manchester United. Glasner is among the names being discussed as a potential replacement for the interim boss at the end of the season.

The Austrian has confirmed that he will leave Palace at the end of his contract in the summer. There have been reports that he has been near the top of the United hierarchy as they search for a new permanent manager.

Carrick, however, is increasingly being discussed among pundits and fans. United remain unbeaten under the former midfielder’s guidance, winning six of the seven matches, leaving United with a decision to make over whether he could take the job on a more permanent basis.

Carrick will now take on Glasner in the dugout on Sunday as Crystal Palace visit Old Trafford. Ahead of the game, the Palace boss has spoken about the job that Carrick has done so far.

“Of course, when Man United plays at home against Crystal Palace, everybody there is expecting now a win,” he said in his pre-match press conference.

“They are a very good team now. They gave a very good balance between, it’s a very experienced team, with really, very experienced Premier League players, and very young players with huge talent.

“It’s a good mix they have now, but I think the most important thing for them is they are consistently playing with their team and have a clear structure in the way they are playing. This is what I could see against Everton.

“They have a great spirit right now. It was really impressive seeing Matheus Cunha celebrating winning a duel in their own box.

“This, I think, is what Michael Carrick brought into this team.”

Glasner led the Eagles to their first-ever FA Cup last season. But the relationship between him and the club seems to have soured over the last few weeks and months.
