Colorado road conditions: Snow shuts down highways in mountains

Snow and ice shut down several highways in Colorado’s mountains Wednesday morning, including part of Interstate 70, according to state transportation officials.
As of 9:10 a.m., according to the Colorado Department of Transportation, road closures included:
- Several lanes of westbound I-70 from Exit 232 for Empire Junction to Exit 228 in Georgetown for safety concerns
- U.S. 6 in both directions between milemarker 222 near Grizzly Peak and Interstate 70 for safety concerns
- U.S. 24 in both directions between Minturn, a town south of Vail, and Leadville for safety concerns
- The right lane of westbound I-70 from Exit 205 for Silverthorne to Exit 203 for Frisco for a stalled vehicle
Cameras along I-70 showed wet, snowy roads and backed-up traffic throughout Colorado’s mountains.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
