A person has died after being struck by a GO train east of Guelph Central GO station, prompting a service suspension on the Kitchener line.

A spokesperson from Metrolinx said the person was truck at approximately 6:30 a.m.

“Because the incident occurred in single‑track territory, it is contributing to the duration and scope of the disruption,” the spokesperson said.

“We expect significant delays and cancellations to morning service on the Kitchener line for customers travelling from Kitchener to Brampton.”

Service has been halted at the following stations: Kitchener GO, Guelph Central GO, Acton GO, Georgetown GO, Mount Pleasant GO and Brampton Innovation District GO.

Customers are being encouraged to use the Milton line for eastbound service. Trains continue to operate between Bramalea GO and Union Station, though delays and cancellations are possible.

Police and Metrolinx officials are on the scene.
