It could be a messy commute Wednesday afternoon in Waterloo region, Guelph and area as a special weather statement from Environment Canada says to expect five to 10 cm of snowfall and blowing snow.
Environment Canada says flurries off Lake Huron will affect central Ontario.
The weather agency says commuters should give themselves extra travel time as snow could accumulate quickly on roads and sidewalks, making them slippery.
Flurries, at times heavy, mixed with local blowing snow could reduce visibility. Winds are expected to gust up to 50 km/h.
Meanwhile, areas of Wellington County, including Mount Forest and Arthur, are under a yellow snowsquall warning for heavy snowfall.
Anywhere from 10 to 20 cm of snow is expected to fall in those areas through to Wednesday night.
Blowing snow is also expected as wind gusts of up to 60 km/h continue.
Environment Canada says snowfall amounts are expected to vary in the area, which could cause road closures.
