Sky Sports customers to get free £20 streaming apps in major change to one plan

Sky has confirmed that free access to Disney+, HBO Max and Hayu will soon be added to select packages.

Sky Sports subscribers will shortly receive complimentary streaming subscriptions valued at over £20 as part of a significant update to one package. Sky has announced that complimentary access to Disney+, HBO Max and Hayu will be added to its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle.

Customers on the £42 monthly package will therefore receive over £20 worth of streaming apps included each month at no additional charge, along with Sky TV, complimentary Netflix and discovery+. This applies to existing Sky Ultimate TV subscribers and those signing up for a new package before the changes take effect.

Sky has indicated, however, that the package will rise by £2 per month for those taking out a subscription from 1st April. New subscribers signing up for the Ultimate TV and Sky Sports package before this cut-off will receive Disney+ Standard with Ads, HBO Max Basic With Ads and Hayu added to their bundle at no additional charge.

This comes in addition to complete Sky Sports coverage spanning nine dedicated channels, featuring the Premier League, EFL, Formula 1, darts and golf. There are also over 135 standard channels including Sky Atlantic and the soon-to-be-relaunched Sky One.

HBO will arrive in the UK on 26th March, with the precise Disney+ and Hayu launch dates yet to be confirmed. The complimentary streaming offer is also available with the standard £22 Ultimate TV bundle, without Sky Sports channels, reports Wales Online.

With this deal, Sky customers will gain access to a range of Disney+ sports documentaries, including Welcome to Wrexham, Flintoff, and Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story. Numerous Netflix series are also included, such as Beckham, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Full Swing and Carlos Alcaraz: My Way.

Sky is giving away free subscriptions to Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max and Hayu to customers on the Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle from March.

Customers should be aware, however, that whilst HBO Max will become the new home of TNT Sports, a separate TNT Sports plan will be necessary for full access. Sky has also noted that its prices ‘may change’ during the 24-month minimum term.

Here’s a full breakdown of the deal:

Sky Ultimate TV and Sky Sports

  • £42 per month, 24-month contract.
  • Nine Sky Sports channels.
  • 135+ regular channels such as Sky Atlantic.
  • Netflix Standard with Ads.
  • Discovery+ Entertainment.
  • Disney+ Standard with Ads (from March, date to be confirmed).
  • HBO Max Basic with Ads (from March 26).
  • Hayu (from July, with some shows available from March).

This comes as Virgin Media rivals Sky with its own sports deal, which has seen the provider’s flagship Sport bundle reduced from £56.99 to £52.99. Although pricier than Sky, this package includes more than 200 channels, nine of which are Sky Sports, along with Netflix and 362Mbps broadband.

Announcing the new Ultimate TV deal, Sophia Ahmad, Chief Consumer Officer at Sky, said: “This marks a new era for Sky and NOW. In a world-first, we’re bringing together Sky, Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max and Hayu into a single Sky TV subscription.

“Nowhere else offers this breadth of incredible entertainment in a fully integrated experience, with everything customers love watching side by side so viewers can jump from show to show with ease. Millions of existing customers will get easy access to this new line-up as standard at unbeatable value.

“We’re proud to continue Sky’s legacy of innovation, making it easier than ever for people to enjoy the very best entertainment and best experience, all in one place.”
