PBKS star batter gets dismissed for a first-ball duck in DY Patil T20 Cup 2026 match [Watch]

Punjab Kings (PBKS) star batter Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for a first-ball duck in the DY Patil T20 Cup 2026. Shreyas is the captain of the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) team. They are playing against Bank of Baroda on Tuesday, February 24.

Bank of Baroda won the toss and opted to bowl first. Shreyas Iyer walked out to bat for BPCL on the first ball of the third over, which was bowled by Bobby Yadav. It was a short delivery outside the off-stump that the PBKS star slashed straight into the hands of the fielder at deep backward point.

The catch was taken successfully as Shreyas Iyer had to walk back for a duck on the very first ball.

After being asked to bat first, BPCL managed to score 169/5 from their 20 overs in the end. Shreyas Iyer was last seen in action before this during India A’s T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up match against Namibia. However, he did not get an opportunity to bat in that game.

He is not a part of India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 and is therefore participating in the DY Patil T20 Cup 2026.

Shreyas Iyer will aim to lead PBKS to their maiden IPL trophy

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer will be seen leading PBKS once again in IPL 2026. He has begun preparing for the tournament as well. Last year, they came close to winning the trophy but lost to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final.

Shreyas played a huge role in taking them to the final. He led from the front, scoring 604 runs from 17 matches at an average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 175.07 with six half-centuries.

This time around, he will be keen to do well for PBKS once again and help the team go the extra mile. They have played the final twice in 2014 and 2025, but are yet to lay their hands on the elusive IPL trophy. Their hunt for a maiden trophy is still on, and Shreyas Iyer will aim to end the search this time around.
