Steelers insider proposes massive trade to help Aaron Rodgers while aiming for “best WR room in the NFL”
Four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers has not yet finalized whether he is returning for another season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Amid this air of uncertainty, team insider Andrew Fillipponi proposed an interesting trade that could help the veteran quarterback in case he decides to come back.
In a tweet he shared on Monday, Fillipponi suggested that the Steelers could aim to trade for Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.
Thanks for the submission!
“Would you make this trade? Jaylen Waddle for Steelers 2026 2nd round pick 53rd pick. Steelers 2026 3rd round pick 85th pick. I absolutely would. Then draft a WR with 21st pick. Steelers would have best WR room in the NFL,” Fillipponi wrote.

The Dolphins drafted Jaylen Waddle with the sixth overall pick during the 2021 NFl draft. In April 2024, they picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract before finalizing a three-year extension worth $84.75 million.
Waddle has been a key player for the Dolphins on offense. In five seasons, he has recorded 5,039 yards and 26 touchdowns receiving. However, despite the interest surrounding him this offseason, NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reported that the team is not looking to part ways with their wide receiver.
“Teams would love to trade for Jaylen Waddle and De’Von Achane. I’m told right now they’re wanting to keep those guys as core players,” Wolfe said on ‘The Insiders.’
On the other hand, Aaron Rodgers is an unrestricted free agent after his one-year, $13.65 million deal with the Steelers. Last season, he helped them qualify for the playoffs while emerging as the AFC North champions.
However, their Super Bowl hopes were crushed following a wild-card loss to the Texans. The four-time NFL MVP recorded 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns passing.

Steelers coach Mike McCarthy shares his stance on Aaron Rodgers’ return
After the 2025 season, Mike Tomlin resigned after 19 years with the Steelers. They brought in Mike McCarthy as his replacement, starting a new chapter for the franchise.
On Friday, McCarthy shared his thoughts on Aaron Rodgers’ future.
“It always points back to healthy communication, and there definitely has been that,” McCarthy said during an interview with ESPN Milwaukee. “We’ll see what the future holds. But we’re definitely preparing for both scenarios.”
McCarthy previously served as the coach of the Dallas Cowboys from 2020 to 2024. He put up a 49-35 overall record before being fired last January.
