3 WNBA Stars Shockingly Snubbed From Team USA Training Camp Roster in Arizona

Team USA announced the 15-player roster that was invited to a three-day training camp on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in Arizona. The national team had just finished an incredible run at the Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The participants for the upcoming training camp are A’ja Wilson, Monique Billings, Mikayla Blakes, Cameron Brink, Paige Bueckers, Rae Burrell, Veronica Burton, Napheesa Collier, Stef Dolson, Sabrina Ionescu, Rickea Jackson, Azura Stevens, Brittney Sykes, Kayla Thornton and JuJu Watkins.

After seeing the roster, fans were surprised by the WNBA stars who were ignored and left out of the current Team USA roster.

3 WNBA Stars Snubbed From Team USA Training Camp Roster

#1 Caitlin Clark

Caitlin Clark is arguably the biggest name that was left off the roster. She is the most famous player, but was not included in the training camp. Fans reacted negatively that the Indiana Fever star was not part.

However, USA Today’s WNBA reporter Meghan L. Hall called the snub “normal” when she replied to a fan about Clark’s exclusion.

“Not on this roster/camp, which is normal. Players will rotate through camps so staff can evaluate,” Hall told a fan.

There’s a chance that Clark will still be part of Team USA, just not this iteration of it. The Fever star had just finished in second place in scoring during the recent FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. She averaged 11.6 points and led the team in assists with 6.4 per game.

#2 Angel Reese

Much like Clark, Angel Reese is also one of the biggest names in the WNBA right now. Not having her in the current Team USA team surprised some fans. Also, she had just played with her fellow American superstars at Puerto Rico.

Reese made a massive impact on the national team. She led them in rebounds by a significant margin, with 8.0 per game. In second place was Dearica Hamby, with 5.2. The Chicago Sky forward also averaged 6.8 points during the tournament.

#3 Aliyah Boston

Clark was not the only Fever player who was left out of the roster. Her teammate, Aliyah Boston, also wasn’t announced as part of the team. Even during Team USA’s time in San Juan, Boston was ignored.

She’s one of the best frontcourt stars in the league and had a strong finish in her third WNBA season. Boston appeared in 44 games, averaging 15.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists. The Fever star finished sixth in the MVP voting and was named in the All-Defensive Second Team and All-WNBA Second Team.
