Trump, after all, had become the first recipient of FIFA’s ‘Peace Prize’ at the John F. Kennedy Center in the US capital, receiving a memento, a medal, and a certificate by Gianni Infantino, president of the governing body for football.

The US President received the peace award before the commencement of the draw, in which current title holders and three-time champions Argentina were placed in Group J along with Algeria, Austria and Jordan.

Brazil, Argentina’s fierce South American rivals who are the most successful team in the tournament’s history with five titles, were placed in Group C alongside Morocco, Haiti and Scotland. Reigning European champions Spain, the team that had won their only world title in 2010, found themselves in Group H along with Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and debutants Cape Verde.

The United States, which will be hosting the lion’s share of fixtures next summer including the semi-finals and the final, have been placed in Group B along with Paraguay, Australia and the winner of Play-off C, while co-hosts Mexico and Canada find themselves in Group A (South Africa, South Korea and Winner Play-off D) and Group B (Qatar, Switzerland and Winner Play-off A) respectively.

FIFA chief Infantino, however, did not reveal the fixtures and venues during the ceremony, which was unveiled by the governing body on Saturday at 1700 GMT (22.30 pm IST). Check out the full schedule of the 2026 FIFA World Cup below.
