A 12-year-old cyclist is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a pickup truck Tuesday morning.
Police say officers were called to the area of University Avenue E. and Woolwich Street, near RIM Park, around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday for reports of a collision involving a Toyota pickup truck and a cyclist.
The 46-year-old male driver from Waterloo was not injured.
The child was taken to a local hospital with serious but non‑life‑threatening physical injuries, police said.
The intersection was closed for the investigation Tuesday morning.
Police did not say where the child was going when they were hit, but there are two elementary schools in the area.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have dashcam footage to reach out to officers.
